The Ghana Police Service has apprehended a suspect believed to be connected to the reported theft of a newborn baby at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra, with the infant safely recovered.
The individual in question, reportedly attired in nursing attire, was captured on the facility’s CCTV footage carrying the baby and exiting the premises with what seemed to be a sack.
This particular footage has garnered widespread circulation on various social media platforms.
According to reports, the incident transpired on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, shortly following the mother’s cesarean section delivery.
The newborn was allegedly removed from the facility, precipitating widespread panic amongst both staff and patients.
Currently, the suspect is in custody, providing assistance with ongoing investigations.
