The Adawso Police Department in the Akuapem North District of the Eastern Region has initiated an investigation into the death of 16-year-old Deborah Dede Ama, whose body was discovered in a stream in Tinkong Township.
According to reports, the deceased left her home on the evening of February 14 to attend a Valentine’s Day party in Tinkong while her mother was away.
Her family stated that she failed to return home, prompting concerns among relatives.
On Tuesday, her body was found in a stream near their home, with residents noting that it had begun to decompose by the time it was discovered.
The circumstances surrounding her death have raised suspicions that she may have been assaulted prior to her killing, with reports indicating that okra were found in her private parts.
The friends who accompanied her claimed they left her at the scene.
The Adawso Police retrieved the body and transported it to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Authorities report that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death and identify those responsible.
