The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon and Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, has announced an initiative to provide complimentary Ghana-made cocoa drinks to public basic school pupils in classes 1 through 4.
According to a statement, the programme will commence on March 2, 2026.
John Dumelo explained that the beneficiaries will receive the Ghana-made cocoa drinks once weekly until the end of the year.
He stated that cocoa possesses nutritional benefits for children, which he believes will enhance their cognitive abilities.
“Cocoa serves as a highly nutritional powerhouse, especially for growing children.
It is rich in essential antioxidants, iron, and magnesium, which are vital for cognitive development and maintaining high energy levels throughout the school day.”
He said, “This program is a testament to our belief that a healthy child is a teachable child. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, and smarter future for Ayawaso West Wuogon.”
