Favouritism in Decongestion – Ablekuma West MP Urges Residents to Follow Rules Amidst Decongestion Drive

February 20, 2026
IMG-20260220-WA0053

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Hon. Rev. Dr Kweku Addo, is deeply concerned about the persistent challenges with decongestion and other pressing issues in the constituency. His frustration stems from allegations made by some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who claim that he has been using his political influence to intimidate individuals and destroy businesses during decongestion exercises.

In response, Hon. Addo emphasised that significant work remains to be done to properly address the congestion problem in the area.

He cautioned party members against taking advantage of their position in government to engage in actions that conflict with the laws of the land, warning that such conduct could tarnish the image of both the party and the government.

The MP stressed that the Assembly, in carrying out decongestion activities, will not consider political affiliations but will work diligently to achieve lasting results for the constituency.

He emphasised that the mandate given to them must be fulfilled in a way that sets a high standard and ensures Ablekuma West becomes a serene and orderly place to live.

Hon. Addo urged residents to be law-abiding and advised individuals seeking to erect shop containers or structures to obtain the necessary approvals to avoid confrontations with the Assembly.

He also called on the Assembly to prioritise engagement and public education before embarking on demolition exercises, to ensure that affected persons are adequately informed.

Hon. Addo assured that the Assembly will not show favouritism in enforcing its mandate, emphasising that any action taken will apply fairly to all defaulters, regardless of political or personal ties.

He remains committed to working towards making Ablekuma West a better place for all residents, and he expects the cooperation of all stakeholders in achieving this goal. The MP’s stance is clear: the laws of the land will be upheld, and everyone will be treated equally, without fear or favour.
