Suspect who allegedly stole baby at Mamprobi Hospital remanded

Latifa Salifu, the suspect accused of stealing a newborn baby at Mamprobi Hospital, appeared before an Accra court on February 20, 2026, following her arrest.

She was arrested after a successful rescue operation led by the Mamprobi District Police Command.

The court has ordered the accused to be remanded into police custody, with a scheduled reappearance on March 4, 2026, as investigations continue to uncover the circumstances surrounding the case.

A statement issued by the service said the police continue to provide 24-hour security to the staff and management of Mamprobi Hospital.

The statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Accra Region, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, assured the public of the continued commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of all persons, especially the vulnerable.
