The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspects in connection with a robbery incident at Ohwim Tigo Junction in Kumasi, which resulted in the death of one person.
Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohunu, who disclosed this, said the robbery led to the death of Mr Andrews Amankwa.
Briefing the press on Monday, February 23, 2026, the IGP assured the public that the police would not allow criminal gangs to operate freely in the country.
“As I’ve always assured the good people of Ghana, my team and I remain committed to ensuring that we make life uncomfortable for criminal elements in the country,” he said.
“No matter how far they run or how much they hide, we will continue to pursue them, dismantle their activities and bring them to justice,” he added.
He indicated the robbery incident occurred at the
Ohyem Tego junction, where the victim was shot, and his Toyota Hilux vehicle was stolen.
Providing the update on the arrest, he said, “I’m happy to announce that we have arrested four suspects, including three members of the gang that was responsible for the attack.”
A fourth suspect, believed to be the gang leader, died from gunshot wounds sustained during a police operation.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) formed a special team to investigate a case, leading to the arrest of four suspects: Akwasi Manu, Bashiru Tanko, Kwadwo Amponsah, and Emmanuel Kwame Appiah.
The IGP thanked the public for their assistance and warned criminals that the police would pursue them and bring them to justice, promising to leave no stone unturned.
He also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
“Your collective efforts will go a long way towards giving the family closure and ensuring justice is served,” he said.
“To the criminals out there, take note of this. We will leave no stone unturned. By every legal means possible, we will continue to come after you. We will pursue you, arrest you, and bring you to justice. That is a promise,” the IGP added.
