Vincent Ekow Assafuah, Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, has urged the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to conduct a thorough investigation into a potential conflict of interest involving Mr Ato Boateng, Acting Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Finance and Administration at Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
He asserted that Mr Boateng’s affiliations compromise good governance, necessitating a probe by the OSP.
Addressing a press conference on February 23, 2026, Hon. Assafuah highlighted the existence of ATLAS Commodities, a company reportedly utilising PBC Company’s services as its designated warehouse for storing cocoa, raising concerns about transparency and ethical practices in the industry.
He stressed that the integrity and impartiality of COCOBOD’s governance structures are crucial for national interests, warning that perceived governance lapses could have far-reaching consequences for the sector and the nation’s prosperity.
Meanwhile, Ato Boateng has welcomed potential investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) into allegations of conflict of interest levelled against him.
He described the allegations as entirely false and baseless.
Mr Boateng noted that he resigned as a director of Atlas Commodities Limited on January 20, 2025, before his appointment to the COCOBOD Board.
