The Chief of Gbetsile, Nii Amankwah Sune I, has warned of a potential demonstration by residents against Ghana Water Company Limited due to the persistent water shortages in the community.
He expressed these sentiments during the 10th Annual Thanksgiving Ceremony of Gbetsile.
The Chief lamented that despite major pipelines traversing the area to supply water to other communities, Gbetsile itself often goes without pipe-borne water for several months.
He noted that the prolonged outages have significantly disrupted daily life, forcing residents to rely on expensive water tankers and sachet water, while continuing to receive monthly water bills.
He stated that “Water is life and must not be politicised,” describing the situation as unbearable for both himself and his people.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Kpone Katamanso, Samuel Tetteh Quarshie Morton, acknowledged the severity of the situation.
He guaranteed residents that he would collaborate with the chief and relevant stakeholders to engage Ghana Water Limited in the forthcoming days, with the aim of finding a permanent solution.
The Member of Parliament for Kpone Katamanso, Joseph Tetteh (Joe T), addressed concerns regarding the poor condition of roads in the area.
He informed the residents that contracts had been awarded for road works and noted that contractors were anticipated to commence work on site shortly.
