The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers of its Customs Division following an enforcement operation that uncovered potential procedural breaches.
A statement issued by the authority indicated that the interdiction of the officers takes “immediate effect”.
It was triggered by a February 18, 2026, inspection of a cargo consignment destined for Niger.
According to a statement released by the Authority on Tuesday night, the operation revealed significant discrepancies in documentation and a failure to comply with established transit protocols.
The GRA noted that the interdictions are necessary to allow for a “comprehensive and independent” internal investigation.
It explained that the probe will determine the full extent of the procedural departures and the specific involvement of the individuals cited.
“Additional officers may be invited to assist with the investigation where necessary,” the GRA stated, adding that appropriate administrative actions will follow the conclusion of the process in line with national regulations.
The Authority promised to roll out efforts to protect national revenue and plug loopholes amid increasing pressure to safeguard local industries.
