A resident of Wassa Attieku in the Wassa East district of the Western Region, Mr Emmanuel Quansah, is contemplating discharge from the hospital against medical advice due to outstanding medical bills following his wife’s delivery of quadruplets at the Twifo Praso Government Hospital.
Initially, the scan indicated that his wife would give birth to triplets; however, the unexpected birth of quadruplets has presented significant financial challenges, prompting Mr Quansah to seek urgent assistance from the government, individuals, and non-governmental organisations.
The family is struggling to cope with the financial implications of the unexpected addition, and with all the newborns requiring incubator care and his wife having undergone a Caesarean section, the bill has become prohibitively expensive.
The mother of the quadruplets expressed that the family, which already has three children, is finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet and is appealing for immediate intervention.
Speaking later in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said the current situation is dire, and without prompt assistance, they may be forced to abandon medical care for the newborns due to financial constraints.
