Foreign Affairs Ministry debunks claims of DVLA Services extending to the Diaspora

February 26, 2026
Samuel-Okudzeto-Ablakwa (1)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has officially distanced itself from viral reports suggesting that the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) is set to begin operations in several countries abroad.

This was contained in a press release issued by the Ministry on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

The Ministry addressed a “viral news headline” which claimed that approval had been granted for DVLA staff to travel to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany.

The reports alleged these officials were to register and renew driving licences for Ghanaians living in the diaspora.

However, the Ministry has denied the claims, stating it has neither issued directives to its diplomatic missions nor granted any entity approval for such an arrangement.

“The Ministry is not aware of any new government policy to that effect,” the statement read, adding that there is no record or formal engagement pointing toward this supposed new direction.

The Ministry further clarified that there has been no financial commitment made regarding this purported project.
