President John Dramani Mahama has reflected on his journey in public life, noting that, much like the history of Ghana itself, his path has not always been a straight one.
He observed that both his career and the nation’s trajectory have been defined by periods of steady progress, followed by setbacks, and ultimately, by determined recovery.
According to the President, this pattern of resilience mirrors the broader experience of the country.
He posited that Ghana is currently in a season of national renewal and restored hope—a moment shaped by hard choices, institutional resolve, and a renewed commitment to stability and national purpose.
Delivering his State of the Nation Address under the theme “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” President Mahama emphasized that the 69th anniversary is more than a ceremony.
He described it as a blueprint guiding his administration’s vision and actions. The theme, he noted: “Reflects where we have been, the difficulties we have endured, and confidently declares the direction in which we are headed.”
At the heart of this vision are two reinforcing agendas: the Resetting Ghana Agenda and the Accra Reset.
The Resetting Ghana Agenda he noted represents a national commitment to restore economic stability, rebuild public trust in democracy, and strengthen institutions to deliver tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.
The President explained that this agenda requires facing challenges with honesty and charting a new course anchored on fiscal discipline, transparency, and sustainable development.
The Accra Reset he added represents a continental commitment. Recognizing that Ghana’s prosperity is inextricably linked to Africa’s progress, the President called for a fundamental shift in how African nations relate to each other and the world—moving from dependency to self-reliance and from fragmentation to integration.
