DVLA services coming to Jomoro: MP and Deputy Transport Minister inspect new office at Tikobo No. 1.

The long journeys to Axim or Takoradi for Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) services will soon be a thing of the past for residents, drivers, and business owners in the Jomoro and Ellembelle municipalities of the Western Region.

The Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Transport Minister, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, is set to commission a temporary DVLA office to serve the area while a permanent government facility is being planned.

Located at Tikobo Number 1 (T1), the office is currently 85% complete and is expected to be commissioned by the end of March 2026.

The progress was highlighted during a recent inspection tour by the deputy minister.

Speaking to the media, Madam Affo-Toffey emphasised that the project will significantly ease the burden on constituents who previously had to travel long distances for licence applications, renewals, and vehicle registrations.

”If someone wants to register their car or apply for a new licence, they currently have to travel all the way to Axim or Takoradi,” she noted.

“Once this project is operational, they will no longer face that challenge.”

Beyond administrative ease, the minister maintained that the new office will stimulate local growth.

The presence of a fully fledged DVLA branch is expected to create jobs for local youth who can tap into the various service and economic opportunities associated with the facility’s operations.

Madam Affo-Toffey clarified that while the government has already secured land for a permanent, modern DVLA office in the constituency, she felt it was vital to provide an immediate solution.

As Deputy Transport Minister, she initiated this temporary project to mitigate the daily struggles of her people.

She stated that this project aligns with the Transport Ministry’s agenda to bring essential services to the doorsteps of all Ghanaians, urging the electorate to maintain their trust in the government’s commitment to transforming the Jomoro constituency.
