Ghanaian actor and entrepreneur Kweku Manu has reported that airports in the United Arab Emirates remain closed following strikes launched by the US and Israel against Iran.
The escalating instability has led to the suspension of flights across major hubs, including Tel Aviv, Dubai, and Doha.
Kweku Manu had travelled to Dubai to source inventory for his new perfume business located in Madina, Ghana.
What was intended to be a routine business trip turned into a period of uncertainty as regional tensions spiked. Iran has launched retaliatory attacks on Gulf states following the military actions that began early Saturday morning.
The resulting travel ban has left many Ghanaians and international travellers stranded in the UAE, unable to return to their home countries.
Speaking in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem via Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Manu expressed his concerns regarding the indefinite nature of the travel suspension.
He noted that the primary goal for him and his compatriots is simply to return home safely, though current conditions make that impossible.
“I had travelled to Dubai to import some perfumes for my new shop I have opened in Madina in Accra. However, the ongoing crisis has made them place a ban on travel. We don’t know when we will be made to return to Ghana.”
The actor highlighted that he is not alone; numerous importers and tourists are currently in limbo.
He warned that the situation will likely have a significant financial impact on those who prepared for a short stay, as prolonged displacement leads to escalating expenses.
“The airlines here have told us they don’t know when the ban on flights will be lifted for us to return home.”
