The minister for health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has informed Parliament that the government is prepared to send Sandra Baafi Boateng, a victim of the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise stampede, abroad for specialised medical treatment should it be deemed necessary by medical professionals.
He made this announcement during his appearance before Parliament on Monday, March 9, 2026.
The minister provided an update on Ms Baafi Boateng’s condition and assured lawmakers of the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting her recovery.
“I wish to assure this Honourable House that the Ministry of Health has remained actively engaged with Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to ensure that Ms Sandra Baafi Boateng receives the requisite specialist care and that every necessary step is being taken to expedite her treatment and recovery,” he said.
He stressed that the government is exploring all appropriate medical options, both locally and internationally, to ensure that she receives the best possible care.
Sandra Baafi Boateng sustained serious injuries during the recruitment exercise held on November 12, 2025, at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
She had been on admission, receiving treatment with the government paying for her medical bills.
