The Member of Parliament for Weija Gbawe Constituency, Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has reiterated the importance of supporting women in politics, emphasising their capabilities and contributions to society.

Speaking in Parliament, he highlighted the crucial role women play in shaping the nation, citing their unwavering support and hard work.

“Women have always been supportive and hard-working, and it’s time they were given equal opportunities to participate in governance,” Hon. Shaib said.

He commended women in Parliament, including his wife and mother, for their dedication to their families and communities, noting that they have become pillars of strength in their respective spheres.

“Women can do better, and they should be supported,” Hon. Shaib emphasised. He urged women to continue working hard, competing with their male counterparts, and striving for excellence in their chosen fields. “Equality and equity are essential in politics, and we must create an environment that fosters inclusivity and empowers women to take on leadership roles,” he added.

Hon Shaib also acknowledged the challenges women face in politics, including societal expectations and stereotypes.

However, he emphasised that these challenges should not deter them from pursuing their goals. “Women have proved themselves capable, and it’s time their efforts are recognised and rewarded,” he said.

The MP’s statement has been welcomed by many, who see it as a boost to the ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and increase women’s participation in politics. His comments are expected to inspire more women to take an active role in shaping Ghana’s future.

“We need more women in politics, and we need to support them every step of the way,” Hon. Shaib concluded. “Let’s work together to create a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.”
