Hon Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Member of Parliament for the Weija Gbawe Constituency, recently spoke at the Empower Vault Summit 2026, emphasising the importance of purpose and leadership in shaping Ghana’s future.
The summit, themed “Fuelling Purpose, Shaping Leaders”, aimed to inspire and empower young people to become leaders in their communities.
In his address, Hon. Shaib urged students to tap into their potential and become leaders in their respective fields. He emphasised that leadership doesn’t start with a title but with a decision. “Leadership doesn’t start with a title; it starts with a decision,” he said, encouraging students to be proactive, ambitious, and determined.

Hon. Shaib also highlighted the need for servant leadership, emphasising that true leadership is about making an impact and serving others.
He commended the Ghanaian spirit for being resilient and supportive, citing examples of students and entrepreneurs who are hustling to make a living.
The Empower Vault Summit 2026 was organised by the Ghana Communication Technology University in collaboration with Horses and Stables.
The event brought together top CEOs, which includes the CEO for the Youth Employment Agency, Malik Basintale; policymakers; and innovators to shape Ghana’s economic reset and unlock new frontiers of growth.

Hon Shaib’s message resonated with the audience, urging them to take ownership of their purpose and become agents of change.
He encouraged students to focus on developing skills in areas like artificial intelligence, digital finance, and cybersecurity, which are transforming the world.
The Legislature also urged students to take ownership of their purpose and become leaders in their respective fields, emphasising that leadership doesn’t start with a title but with a decision.
“Leadership begins with a decision. Make that decision. Have that purpose. Have the determination. Have the courage, and be serviceable,” he said, encouraging students to be proactive, ambitious, and determined.
