The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has urged the government to reimburse applicants who were disqualified from the ongoing security service recruitment process due to technical issues.
The Effutu Member of Parliament expressed concerns regarding the online aptitude test system, citing its potential disadvantage to certain applicants.
According to him, he and other MPs have received complaints from constituents who paid fees to participate in the recruitment exercise but were unable to complete the process successfully.
During a parliamentary session on March 10, 2025, the Minority Leader proposed that applicants who encountered technical difficulties be either refunded or permitted to carry over their applications to the next recruitment cycle.
“Beyond this, we may have to even look at the number of people who have bought forms and gone through all this hell, and whether there is a way that if they don’t get the opportunity, they get their monies refunded. If they cannot be refunded, there must be a system to move them to the following year,” he said.
Over 2,500 applicants purchased forms and 9,000 are undergoing tests for 5,000 expected recruits.
The situation is burdening MPs with frustrated constituents. The issue requires urgent attention for systemic fairness.
