The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has categorically refuted social media claims that it awarded a GHS11 million office renovation contract to a company owned by the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of operations, Mr Stan Dogbe, through sole sourcing.
The board, in a statement, described the reports as entirely inaccurate.
Following the establishment of the GoldBod in April 2025, the renovation was necessitated by the recruitment of over 300 new staff and the creation of additional directorates and units, as disclosed in a statement issued on 14 March 2026.
“To cater for the spatial and functional necessities of the new organisation, it became imperative to relocate from the dilapidated offices of the defunct PMMC,” the statement said.
It added that the Board subsequently rented the old Bank of Ghana head office at No. 1 Thorpe Road, Accra, which was structurally defective and in need of refurbishment.
According to GoldBod, an approval was obtained from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) on 24 June 2025 to use a restricted tendering process.
It noted that three companies were shortlisted, with Correca Ghana Limited ultimately awarded the contract.
“The mischievous claim that the contract was awarded through sole-sourcing is completely false. Correca Ghana Limited was qualified to undertake the works and completed the project in a timely and professional manner,” the Board said.
Meanwhile, GoldBod says it has, in line with transparency, published the full contract on its official website.
It maintained that attempts by “fake news merchants” to smear its reputation will not work.
