President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that his government will establish a comprehensive national framework to address salary and compensation disparities in the public sector.
He announced this during a meeting with Organised Labour at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
The President said an Independent Emoluments Commission would be tasked to develop a National Emoluments Policy.
He noted that the policy will address pay disparities across the public sector, harmonise allowances, and strengthen performance-based compensation systems.
According to him, the government aims to build a compensation system that rewards productivity, ensures fairness, and supports national development goals.
“The Independent Emolument Commission will develop a comprehensive National Emolument Policy. The policy will address pay disparities, harmonise allowances, strengthen performance-based compensations and align public sector pay with Ghana’s long-term development and fiscal priorities,” he said.
“We seek a system where rewards are aligned with productivity, fairness, and national development goals,” he added.
