The Member of Parliament for the Afram Plains North Constituency, Hon. Worlase Kpeli Esq, has taken a significant step towards bridging the healthcare gap in the district.
Following a request from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) last May, Hon. Kpeli nominated Mr Atsu Wisdom Sekle, a proud native of Kwahu Afram Plains North, to be trained to operate a fibre boat for NHIS work.
This strategic move has culminated in the commissioning of five boats by NHIA, with one allocated to Kwahu Afram Plains North District.

The boat will be managed by NHIS officers in Donkorkrom, facilitating movement to island communities and ensuring that distance and water barriers no longer hinder access to NHIS services.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Kpeli expressed pride in the achievement, highlighting the impact it will have on the lives of his constituents.
“This intervention marks a significant step forward in strengthening the operations of the National Health Insurance Scheme in our constituency,” he said. “It brings services closer to our people and ensures that distance and water barriers no longer hinder access to NHIS services.”

The constituents noted that Hon. Kpeli’s commitment to improving healthcare in Afram Plains North is evident in his tireless efforts to address the unique challenges faced by his constituents.
The introduction of the fibre boat is expected to significantly reduce the time and effort required for NHIS officers to reach island communities, enabling them to provide timely and effective services to those in need.
The people of Afram Plains North have welcomed the development, recognising the positive impact it will have on their lives. “This is a great initiative by our MP,” said a local resident.
“We have struggled with accessing healthcare services for too long, and this boat will make a huge difference.”
The people further indicated that Hon. Kpeli’s achievement serves as a testament to his dedication to the people of Afram Plains North and his commitment to delivering on his promises.
According to them, as the MP continues to work towards improving the lives of his constituents, the people of Afram Plains North remain grateful for his tireless efforts.
