Member of Parliament for Okere Constituency, Hon. Addo-Kenneth Nana Daniel, has advised students from Jukwa Senior High Technical School to be time-conscious, emphasising that time is money. He made this call when the 58 Government students visited Parliament, led by their teacher, Francis Arthur.
Addressing the students, Hon. Addo-Kenneth lamented Ghana’s culture of wasting time, citing instances of tardiness in schools and workplaces. “One of the challenges we have as a nation is that we waste time,” he said.
He asked the students how they would feel if they went to a bank and found it closed or workers absent. “If your mother goes to the bank to take money so that they can pay your fees or give you pocket money and he gets to the bank and the bank is not there or has no picture money and he gets to the bank and the workers are not there, how would you feel?” he asked.
Hon. Addo-Kenneth urged the students to make a pledge to be time-conscious, stressing that discipline, hard work, and determination are key to success. “I want you to leave here if you are not time conscious… I want you to leave Parliament House knowing that from today you are going to be time conscious,” he emphasised.
The MP encouraged the students to emulate him, saying that with effort, they can achieve his goals. “You can also be there right… but you need to be steady,” he said, adding that success is achievable through focus and dedication, regardless of one’s background.
Hon. Addo-Kenneth told the students that their MP hails from the community and reminded the students that he was once like them, but with hard work and determination, he achieved his goals. He concluded by taking a group picture with the students, wishing them well in their studies and future endeavours.
