Coach Otto Addo Sacking was long overdue – Coach Christopher Nimely

An outspoken sports pundit, Christopher Nimley, has revealed that the sacking of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is long overdue.

In an exclusive interview on Rainbow Radio International 87.5, Coach Nimely did not mince words as he criticised the performance and tactical direction of the Ghana national football team under Addo’s leadership.

According to him, the team has struggled to maintain consistency, identity, and a competitive edge in recent matches, and he believes the Ghana Football Association should have sacked him a long time ago.

“I was not surprised Coach Otto Addo was sacked after the loss to the German national federation yesterday. In fact, it’s long overdue to be sacked because Otto Addo didn’t deserve the job. Otto Addo never ticked any of the boxes or criteria laid down by the GFA in search of a new coach after he failed woefully at the World Cup.”

“We all know that the GFA president personally called Otto Addo and handed the job to him against the wish of the committee assigned to search for a new coach for the Black Stars,” he added.

As discussions intensify, the Ghana Football Association now faces growing scrutiny over its next move, with supporters eager to see a clear plan that will steer the Black Stars back to success in the 2026 World Cup.

Coach Otto Addo’s second stint for the Ghana Black Stars includes 22 games played, 8 wins, 5 draws, 9 defeats, 28 goals conceded, and 35 goals scored, making a 36.4% winning rate.
