A fatal road accident on the Buipe-Tamale road has resulted in four deaths, according to a report by the Ghana National Fire Service.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Sawaba No. 2, involving a Sprinter Benz bus travelling from Buipe to Kumasi and a trailer truck that subsequently fled the scene.
The Ghana National Fire Service stated in a release that 19 passengers had been transported to the Buipe Government Hospital prior to the arrival of its crew.
Upon arrival, firefighters from the Buipe Fire Command successfully extricated three trapped victims from the minibus.
The fatalities include two females and two males, with three pronounced dead at the scene and one later at the hospital.
The bodies of those who died at the scene were handed over to the police for further investigation and preservation.
The Sprinter bus sustained significant damage, and preliminary findings suggest that the trailer truck was responsible for the crash before escaping.
The GNFS attributed the swift intervention of its crew, led by Station Officer II Abubakar M. Sheriff, to preventing further casualties and ensuring timely medical attention for survivors.
