President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to release funds for the completion of the Ghana Awards House.
According to him, the government remains committed to completing the project which started under the previous government in 2021.
“For 70 years, this initiative has moulded global leaders, innovators and change makers in Ghana. It has become a symbol of hope, discipline and transformation. As Chief Patron, I reaffirm my dedication to completing the Ghana Awards House.
“I’ve instructed the GET Fund to provide us with the funding to complete the project. This award house will be a lasting symbol of this legacy and our investment in the future of our young people,” he said.
The project is a GH¢5 million two-storey administrative facility for the Head of State Award Scheme.
It was initiated in April 2021 under the previous administration but remains uncompleted.
After completion, the building will serve as the headquarters for the youth development programme.
President John Dramani Mahama spoke at the Gold Award and Special Honours Ceremony held at UPSA.
The ceremony, held under the theme “Equip, Empower, Excel: Building Brighter Futures Through Opportunities”, recognised and celebrated the exceptional accomplishments of young Ghanaians who have demonstrated commitment, leadership, and excellence through the Award Scheme.
In his address, the president commended the awardees for their dedication to personal growth and service to the nation, urging them to continue to uphold the values of discipline, resilience, and integrity in contributing to Ghana’s development.
