The Accra Regional Police Command has moved swiftly to debunk rumours circulating in the media regarding a recent jailbreak at the Adabraka District Police Station.

In an official statement released on April 27, 2026, the police addressed allegations that three of the six inmates who escaped custody the previous day were involved in the murder of politician Sammy Gyamfi’s father-in-law.

Authorities clarified that the six individuals who broke out of the Adabraka station on April 26 had never been detained in connection with the Gyamfi case.

The Command emphasised that there is no relationship between the escapees and the ongoing investigation into the lawyer’s relative, condemning the reports as baseless and misleading.

Updates on the manhunt indicate that police have already successfully re-arrested three of the six escapees.

Operations are currently intensified to track down the remaining three suspects.

Alongside the search, the Regional Command has launched a full-scale internal investigation to determine the exact circumstances that allowed the inmates to flee their cells.

The police have assured the public of their unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order while urging citizens to stay vigilant.

Anyone with credible information regarding the whereabouts of the three suspects still at large is encouraged to report to the nearest police station immediately.
