The chiefs and elders of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area have symbolically banished Adamus Resources Limited following a solemn traditional ritual.

The ceremony, marked by the slaughtering of a sheep, signifies a firm and irreversible rejection of the mining company’s presence on Nzema ancestral land.

Traditional leaders gathered at the Saa Nyamenle Royal Palace in Atuabo to perform the necessary rites.

Through the pouring of libation and the invocation of their ancestors, the leaders formally consecrated their decision, seeking spiritual witness to the expulsion.

According to the Paramount Chief, this action underscores a collective resolve to protect the region’s territorial integrity, vital water bodies, and local livelihoods, all of which have reportedly suffered for more than a decade due to the company’s operations.

The Council stated that this rejection transcends the recent government revocation of the company’s mining licence.

They insisted that Adamus Resources is no longer welcome within the traditional area under any circumstances, regardless of future legal or political shifts.

His Royal Majesty Awulae Blay IX, Paramount Chief of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area, described the government’s decision—made under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama—as a moment of liberation for his people.

The revocation followed findings of alleged illegal operations and severe environmental degradation.

While the government’s decision was based on regulatory breaches, the traditional authorities maintained that their stance is rooted in the long-term survival and prosperity of the Nzema people.

Meanwhile, the Council had called for urgent legal action to be taken against the company, demanding that the law be fully applied to ensure accountability for past grievances.
