MP Issues Urgent Call to support Lifesaving Surgical Missions in Buluk

May 6, 2026

A passionate appeal has been launched to secure the future of vital medical interventions in Buluk, as the Team of Hope continues to provide critical surgical care despite chronic funding and logistical shortages.

Dr Clement Abas Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South and Deputy Minister for Education, issued the call this week, praising the volunteer medical group for their unwavering commitment to the region’s most vulnerable residents.

For several years, the Team of Hope has operated on the front lines of healthcare in Buluk, performing complex, lifesaving surgeries entirely free of charge.

These missions serve as a crucial safety net for a population that often lacks the financial means or proximity to access specialised theatre services.

While the team has maintained a consistent presence in the area, their ability to reach every patient in need is currently hampered by a lack of sustainable resources.

Dr Apaak, a long-standing supporter of the initiative, noted that while he has personally contributed to the cause over the years, the sheer scale of the medical need requires a more robust collective effort.

He emphasised that the impact of the team’s work is transformative, offering a second chance at life to many of his constituents who would otherwise face debilitating conditions without hope of intervention.

The appeal is directed toward philanthropists, benevolent organisations, and private individuals with the capacity to provide either financial aid or logistical equipment.

According to the MP, an influx of support would directly translate into a higher volume of successful operations, expanding the reach of the mission beyond its current constraints.

Donors are encouraged to coordinate their contributions through the contact details provided by the Team of Hope or via the MP’s office.

Dr Apaak assured prospective benefactors that all support will be handled with full transparency, offering public acknowledgement or private gratitude according to the preference of the donor.

As the mission prepares for its next round of surgeries, the hope remains that the generosity of the public will match the dedication of the surgeons on the ground.

Below is the full statement

SUPPORT THE TEAM OF HOPE

Despite limited logistics and funds over the years, the Team of Hope has continued to perform lifesaving surgeries in Buluk.

Over the years, I’ve contributed my widow’s mite to support the amazing lifesaving work of the Team of Hope in Buluk. However, more support is needed to enable more people to benefit from the generosity of the Team of Hope.

The purpose of this communication is, therefore, to appeal to well wishes, friends, philanthropists, benevolent organisations, and entities with the capacity to support the Team of Hope financially or logistically.

Additional support will undoubtedly enable more of my constituents in particular, and the people of Buluk in general benefit from the life-saving surgeries performed free of charge by the Team of Hope.

I’m proud to be associated with the Team of Hope. Be assured that your support directly to the Team of Hope, via the contact numbers on the flyer attached or through my office, will be acknowledged publicly or privately, as you may wish.

Thank you in advance.

Signed.

Dr. Clement Abas Apaak
MP, Builsa South and Deputy Minister for Education
