The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has commissioned an ultramodern six-unit classroom block at Gbedema, complete with an auxiliary six-seater WC facility, electricity connection, ceiling fans, and maker boards.
The facility, funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), will serve as a primary school for the community.
At the commissioning ceremony on Thursday, Dr Apaak reiterated his commitment to improving education in the district, stressing that quality infrastructure is essential for effective teaching and learning.
The chief of Gbedema, Nab Nkrumah Apaarinchang, speaking on behalf of residents, expressed deep gratitude to the MP for the intervention.
In addition to the classroom block, Dr Apaak presented 4,348 mono desks with tables to the Builsa South Education Directorate at Fumbisi SHS for onwards distribution to senior high and junior high schools across the district.
He explained that desks are critical to teaching and learning; hence, his decision to prioritise their provision. The desks, he noted, were also funded by GETFund.
Dr Apaak further donated four motorbikes to be given to School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) to strengthen supervision in the education sector.
He emphasised that effective supervision is vital to improving standards, and the motorbikes will enable SISOs to monitor activities across their circuits more efficiently.
Receiving the items on behalf of the District Education Director, the Deputy Director in charge of Monitoring and Supervision, Mr Akumzeyam Stephen Ajubil, expressed gratitude to the MP for the support.
He assured the MP that both the desks and motorbikes would be distributed fairly to serve their intended purposes across the district.
The Headmaster of Fumbisi Senior High School, Mr Michael Adapim, who spoke on behalf of all beneficiary schools’ headmasters, thanked the MP for the intervention.
He used the opportunity to appeal to Dr Apaak to prioritise the construction of a fencing wall for the school as well as other infrastructure projects to further improve teaching and learning at the school.
