Kwakye Ofosu Slams Ghana Bar Association as “NPP Grouping” Over Silence on Judge Abuse

Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has launched a blistering critique against the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), accusing the legal body of blatant political bias and institutional hypocrisy.

In a scathing social media assessment, Kwakye Ofosu asserted that the association has long abandoned its neutrality to operate effectively as an extension of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This sharp rebuke follows what he describes as the GBA’s conspicuous silence regarding recent controversial remarks made by the Minority Leader against a sitting judge.

According to the government communications minister, the GBA’s refusal to condemn the lawmaker’s behavior exposes a deeply entrenched double standard.

He argued that if the offender belonged to a different political faction, the association would have swiftly issued an uncompromising public reprimand. Kwakye Ofosu pointed out that the association has historically shown no hesitation in rapidly penalizing non-NPP members for far less offensive commentary.

The minister condemned the GBA’s current inaction as a case of “insufferable duplicity,” suggesting that the legal union deliberately shields its own politically aligned members from accountability.

By remaining loudly silent when an NPP-affiliated lawyer compromises the integrity of the judiciary, Kwakye Ofosu contends that the GBA has compromised its own moral authority and undermined its standing as an objective defender of the rule of law.

I have long dismissed the Ghana Bar Association as an NPP grouping.

If it were not so, the intolerable abuse of this Judge by the Minority Leader would have elicited an immediate, uncompromising response.

They have been known to respond quickly to far less offensive commentary by non-NPP members.

Alas, one of their own, an NPP lawyer has abused a judge so they have been loudly silent

What insufferable duplicity!
