Landlord alledgdly stabs tenant to death over GH¢30 electricity bill in Greater Accra

A 50-year-old landlord, Kofi Koranteng, has allegedly stabbed his 37-year-old tenant and long-time work colleague, Opoku Agyemang, to death over a GH¢30 electricity bill dispute in Medie Ketewa, located within the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The incident occurred on Tuesday after Koranteng invited Agyemang into his room to discuss the outstanding payment. According to an eyewitness, Enoch Idan Danquah, the confrontation turned violent when the landlord drew a machete and stabbed the victim multiple times.

The suspect, a father of five, subsequently fled the scene, leaving residents in shock due to the close friendship previously shared by the two men.

The Kotoku Police Command has commenced an investigation into the matter and has conveyed the body of Agyemang, who is survived by his wife and three children, to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
