Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has encouraged more students to pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) during a tour of selected institutions in Accra.

He visited the Accra Technical Training Center and the Opportunities Industrialisation Technical Institute (OITI) while students undertook their ongoing final examinations.

Dr Apaak described the increasing interest in TVET as encouraging. He disclosed that enrolment has risen by over eight per cent compared to last year.

According to the Deputy Minister, about 61,500 students across the country are currently sitting for the examinations. He commended tutors, instructors, and parents for supporting the candidates throughout their academic journey.

Dr Apaak also wished the students success and urged more young people to consider TVET education. He stressed that technical and vocational training is essential for national growth and job creation.

Dr Apaak noted that countries such as Japan, Singapore, South Korea, China, and Germany have advanced through strong investment in technical education.

He said the government remains committed to strengthening the TVET sector through policy support and funding.

The Deputy Minister added that a five-million-euro grant secured from Italy has been dedicated to TVET development. He expressed confidence that sustained investment in the sector will help transform Ghana’s economy.
