Police have apprehended the landlord, Kofi Koranteng, following the alleged tragic killing of his tenant during a heated dispute over a shared utility bill in the Ga West Municipality.

The suspect allegedly stabbed the tenant, Opoku Agyemang, to death at Medie Ketewa.

The fatal escalation occurred after an argument broke out between the two men over a GH¢30 electricity bill contribution—a minor financial dispute that rapidly spiralled out of control.

According to local reports, the disagreement over the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) bill turned violent, resulting in Koranteng allegedly attacking Agyemang with a sharp object.

Following the stabbing, Koranteng immediately fled the scene, leaving neighbours and local residents in shock and sparking a swift police manhunt.

Detectives from the Ga West Municipal Police Command successfully tracked Koranteng down to a hideout in neighbouring Nsawam, where he was arrested without further incident.

The suspect is currently held in police custody as regional homicide detectives continue their investigations.

Charges are expected to be formally prepared as police gather witness statements from the Medie Ketewa neighbourhood to piece together the exact sequence of events leading up to the murder.
