The Inspector-General of Police’s special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) has arrested seven suspects in connection with the theft of three unregistered Hyundai Elantra and Sonata vehicles.
The operation began on 25 May 2026, when CVET received a report regarding the theft of an unregistered blue Hyundai Elantra from its owner at Nkawkaw.
Following the report, the team initiated a digital and intelligence-led investigation, successfully tracking the stolen vehicle to a hideout at Roman Down, Asamankese.
Collaborating with the local Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Detachment, officers arrested the suspects and retrieved two additional stolen vehicles from their possession.
The detained individuals have been identified as 28-year-old Acheampong Otuo Kofi (also known as Levels), 26-year-old Kpachen Ebenezer, 35-year-old Fianko Isaac (also known as Yaw), 24-year-old Besah Elizabeth, 28-year-old David Kudalor, 38-year-old Enoch Acheampong, and 35-year-old Solomon Odei.
All seven suspects remain in police custody to assist with ongoing enquiries, whilst the three vehicles have been impounded.
Efforts are currently underway to recover further stolen vehicles that may be linked to the group, and the police are urging members of the public to come forward with any information regarding suspected car-jacking syndicates in their local areas.
