According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, President Macron is expected to welcome a good-faith dialogue regarding historical injustices committed against Africans.

The French leader will outline his country’s specific commitments to reparatory justice during his address to the delegates assembled in the Ghanaian capital.

The development follows the recent, landmark adoption of a Ghana-led United Nations resolution.

Championed by President Mahama, the historic UN text formally declared the transatlantic slave trade and racialized chattel enslavement as the gravest crime against humanity.

Diplomatic officials indicate that Macron’s participation signals a growing international willingness to confront the enduring legacy of colonial-era exploitation.

The conference in Accra aims to translate the political momentum of the UN resolution into a structured global framework for restitution, healing, and meaningful reconciliation.

The statement read “The Government of Ghana confirms that the President of France will address the Next Steps Conference on Reparatory Justice being hosted in Accra by President Mahama.
