The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully managed a critical fuel transfer and cleared major wreckage following a truck crash and subsequent fire on the Accra–Tema Motorway.
Firefighters safely transferred thousands of litres of salvaged petrol from the damaged tanker into an alternative 54,000-litre capacity bulk road vehicle. Following the transfer, the burnt shell of the empty tanker, identified as belonging to GIG Empire, was secured and towed away from the roadway.
Emergency crews are currently working to remove a second involved vehicle, a tipper truck, from the scene.
While the incident has caused heavy traffic congestion along the motorway, emergency teams are working alongside traffic management officials to clear the remaining debris and restore normal traffic flow.
GNFS personnel remain on-site to monitor safety conditions and support the ongoing recovery operations.
