The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Seth Serwonoo Banini, has revealed that reports suggest two individuals have been swept away by floodwaters at Nurses Quarters Junction, located within the Ga South Municipality.

While official confirmation is still pending, preliminary accounts state the victims are an adult and a child.

The adult was reportedly swept away while attempting to rescue the child, who had been caught in the fast-flowing deluge.

The Kasoa MCE shared this information while supporting the Ga South Municipal Assembly’s efforts to manage traffic and assist commuters, after severe flooding submerged sections of the main carriageway, paralyzing local transport.

The crisis followed a heavy downpour that battered the municipality, leaving roads impassable and severely disrupting travel for residents and motorists alike.

Hon. Banini urged the public to dismiss media reports claiming the incident occurred in Kasoa. He clarified that the tragedy took place within the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, rather than Kasoa, which sits inside the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

Meanwhile, The traditional leader Being Zongo chief for Kasoa Nurses Quarters Sariki Shaibu Ashaamah has suggested that the government construct drains from Odunkwa community to Nurses Quarters and that can solve the Perinial flooding in the area..

The local leader used the opportunity to appeal directly to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Obom Domeabra, Isaac Yibor, and the Ga South MCE for immediate emergency assistance.
