The Central Regional Police Command confirmed that Emmanuel Arthur, a 17-year-old final-year student at Mfantsipim Senior High School in Cape Coast, died by suicide.
A carpenter discovered his body inside an uncompleted building in the Ola North suburb of Cape Coast.
At the scene, investigators recovered a black backpack containing personal belongings, two mobile phones, and a Geography Paper 1 mock examination paper bearing the student’s name. School authorities later verified Arthur’s identity based on these items.
Because a pathologist at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital confirmed the body was significantly decomposed, officials released the remains to the family immediately after notification.
The family made prompt burial arrangements, and workers fumigated the building where the discovery occurred.
While police investigations concluded the death was a suicide, the specific motives and circumstances leading to the incident remain unknown.
