NDC’s Mahdi Gibril Confident Black Stars Will Secure Point Against England

Mahdi-Gibril

Acting Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Gibril, has expressed strong confidence in the senior national team, the Black Stars, ahead of their second group match against England’s Three Lions.

Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he noted that despite the slow pace at which our gallant men started the tournament, Ghana still stands a good chance of securing a point against the English side.

He emphasised that the entire nation is solidly behind the team, urging the players to give their maximum effort to make Ghana proud.

He also asserted that historically, Ghana tends to struggle in friendly matches but consistently rises to the occasion during major tournaments.

While acknowledging England’s status, Mahdi Gibril remained undaunted, suggesting that reputation alone does not win matches.

“England has just a name in football, however, they lack the quality of play. They have a name but it is one of the most disappointing teams in football. Regardless of what will happen, we will certainly secure a point in the game.”

He added that the encounter will be highly competitive and interesting, reiterating his firm belief in a positive outcome for the Black Stars.

“I am clear in my mind that the match will provide Ghana with one point. The teams that are usually underrated are the ones that can confuse you with their play.”
