The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested two Nigerian nationals in connection with the alleged murder of their compatriot in Tamale.
The suspects, Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, were intercepted at Tatale on the Ghana-Togo border following an intelligence-led operation.
Their arrest succeeded the discovery of 36-year-old Nkemujika Uzorchuku Eze’s body in his Sanzirigu bedroom on Saturday, 11 July 2026.
Police responders found the deceased with a deep forehead wound and a towel stuffed into his mouth.
The room had been ransacked. Investigators recovered a wooden pestle believed to be the murder weapon, alongside other forensic evidence.
The body has been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital mortuary for an autopsy after a medical officer confirmed him dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed the deceased shared a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzorchuku, the two suspects, and another Nigerian national, Godwin Nwafor.
According to the police, the suspects confessed during interrogation to conspiring to kill the deceased following a dispute over proceeds from suspected internet fraud. They were arrested while attempting to flee into neighbouring Togo.
A police search recovered items allegedly stolen from the victim’s room, including mobile phones, laptops, a tablet, jewellery, wristwatches, clothing, and personal documents.
The suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before a Tamale court on Monday, 13 July 2026.
Meanwhile, investigations continue, with police analyzing forensic evidence and retrieving CCTV footage.
The Command has urged the public to provide credible information to help bring all perpetrators to justice.
