Three dead, 15 injured in tragic two-vehicle crash on Kumasi-Accra Highway

Three people have been confirmed dead, and fifteen others have sustained various degrees of injury following a horrific road accident at Juaso on the Kumasi-Accra Highway.

The fatal collision, which occurred on Monday, 13 July 2026, at approximately 9:39 am, happened near the NEXT BON Gas station at the Juaso Three-Lane stretch.

The crash involved a clinker-loaded Shacman F3000 truck with registration number GN 9673-25, driven by Mr Stephen Amankwah, and a Dongfeng van with registration number GM 4002-26, driven by Mr Nyame Ebenezer.

According to a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, a total of 18 people were involved in the accident.

Three victims—two males and one female—died on the spot.
A joint rescue team from the Konongo-Odumase and Juaso Fire Stations arrived swiftly at the scene, recovered the bodies of the deceased, and handed them over to the Juaso Police.

Before the arrival of the emergency services, members of the public rescued the two drivers and the thirteen other injured passengers.

They were rushed to the Juaso Government Hospital, where they are currently receiving urgent medical treatment.

The impact of the crash left the Dongfeng van severely damaged, with its windscreen and engine compartment completely wrecked. The Shacman truck sustained partial damage to its cowl.
