A mobile money (MoMo) vendor is currently fighting for his life in critical condition after being shot in the ribs by a gang of armed robbers during a violent raid at Agona Mankron Junction in the Agona East District of the Central Region.
Reports gathered by Rainbowradioonline.com indicate that six heavily armed robbers stormed the Agona Mankron township, launching a terror campaign on mobile money vendors, local shops, drivers, and commuters.
The ruthless gang succeeded in raiding three separate MoMo vendors before attempting to target a local petrol station.
However, alert station workers managed to flee to safety before the gang could execute the robbery.
Speaking to Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, an eyewitness identified as (name withheld) revealed that word quickly spread across the township that heavily armed men were attacking vendors, commuters, and businesses.
He disclosed that after the initial assault at Mankron, the robbers moved towards Kwanyarko, where they blocked the busy Bawjiase-Swedru road and robbed stranded commuters at gunpoint.
The violent assault has thrown the entire community into severe fear and panic.
Terrified residents were forced to flee into nearby bushes for cover, while others sought safety inside the local cemetery to escape the indiscriminate gunfire echoing through the area.
Dismayed residents are now urgently appealing to the Ghana Police Service to deploy additional security forces to the area to restore calm, hunt down the perpetrators, and safeguard lives and property.
