The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled the Paramount Chief of Kenyase No. 2, Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio, following grave violations of Asante customs and traditional protocols.
The decisive action was announced during a sitting of the Asanteman Traditional Council held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio was destooled alongside nearly all key kingmakers within the traditional area after the council established that they had breached their sworn oath of office and acted contrary to long-standing Asante traditions.
The Asantehene spared the Kontihene from destoolment and directed the immediate reinstatement of the previously destooled Akyeame (linguists) and other traditional council officers, restoring order to the traditional administration.
The traditional council emphasised that adherence to customary vows remains non-negotiable for all traditional leaders serving under the Golden Stool.
