An Accra High Court has issued a 10-day interim injunction stopping Sarah Adwoa Safo, the former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, from moving forward with the final rites and burial of her late father, the prominent industrialist Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

The judicial decision comes after the Kristo Asafo Mission filed an urgent legal application regarding the administration of the late clergyman’s estate.

Speaking to members of the press, counsel for the Mission, Nana Kofi Safo Kantanka, described the court’s ruling as a necessary action.

He clarified that the injunction temporarily restrains the former lawmaker from conducting any funeral events until the substantive legal matters are fully examined by the bench.

Internal friction within the Safo family prompted the legal challenge, with relatives clashing over who holds the legitimate right to manage the funeral proceedings and honour Apostle Safo’s last wishes.

As a direct result of the ruling, the burial ceremonies—which had been scheduled to take place on 30 and 31 July 2026—have now been put on ice.
