Traditional leaders of Manso Tontokrom, situated within the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, have passionately urged President John Dramani Mahama to include their area in the government’s Big Push road infrastructure scheme to revitalise local commerce.
According to the traditional authorities, Manso Tontokrom and its surrounding areas boast a substantial population alongside tremendous potential to become a thriving commercial centre.
However, severely deteriorated road networks continue to pose the greatest hindrance to commuters, local traders, and residents alike.
The traditional leaders made this passionate plea whilst speaking to journalists during a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a 48-unit lockable market complex—a community-driven initiative spearheaded by the Tontokrom Unit Committee.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Owusu, the Secretary to the Tontokrom Unit Committee, explained that the market project was conceived to stimulate trade and generate economic prospects for the populace.
He further called upon residents to actively champion self-help projects to foster community development whilst awaiting government intervention.
