The Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has formally confirmed Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I as its new leader, following the passing of its iconic founder, Apostle Emeritus Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
According to the church, the appointment was finalized by the Council of Elders in strict accordance with the explicit wishes of the late spiritual leader.
The official declaration was made during a National Joint Intercessory Prayer Service held to honour Apostle Emeritus Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka as part of activities marking his birth month. The service was themed “Intercessory Prayer to Mark the Birth Month of Our Founder As He Rests in His Glory.”
Speaking at the gathering, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Mission, Akwesi Ofori, stated that the elders adhered faithfully to the succession protocol established by the founder.
“We are gathered here with our new leader, and he is the one we must listen to and follow through with his vision for the church,” Mr Ofori said.
He revealed that the founder had designated that, in his absence, the leadership should be selected from among his three sons.
“When you look into the books, the founder mentioned that when he is not around, the council of the church should select any of his three sons to be the leader of the church,” he explained.
Acknowledging the gravity of the decision, Mr Ofori noted that while the process was demanding, the elders navigated it successfully.
“I think the council did very well. Selecting the new leader was not an easy task for the council. But with good counsel, they were able to come out with Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I,” he said.
The PRO called on the entire membership of the Kristo Asafo Mission to remain united, rally behind Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, and actively support him to drive the church forward while preserving the founder’s legacy.
