The Bank of Ghana has reassured the public of its commitment to safeguarding the cedi and maintaining low inflation to sustain national economic recovery.

Speaking at a stakeholder forum in Sunyani, Bono Region, the Governor, Dr Johnson Asiama, noted that despite encouraging improvements in key economic indicators, the central bank remains vigilant against persistent global uncertainties, such as geopolitical friction and volatile crude oil prices.

He emphasised that the bank’s core focus is fostering a stable financial environment that empowers businesses to plan, invest, and expand confidently.
“The progress we have made is encouraging, but we must not become complacent.

The global economy remains uncertain, and events beyond our borders can still affect us.

That is why the Bank of Ghana will continue to take decisions that protect the value of the cedi, keep inflation low, preserve financial stability and support sustainable economic growth.”

The forum convened key representatives from the business sector, including the Association of Bankers, the Association of Ghana Industries, the Ghana Union of Traders Association, and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, alongside leaders of rural banks, forex bureaus, and microfinance institutions.

Dr Asiama highlighted that while economic indicators are improving, external hazards could still strain local prices and the currency.

He stated that the present 14 per cent policy rate strikes a balance between curbing inflation and encouraging business investment and growth. Furthermore, the Governor guaranteed that the central bank will maintain an orderly foreign exchange market while enhancing operational openness and transparency.

“Our goal is simple – to create an economic environment where businesses can grow with confidence, households can plan for the future, and every Ghanaian can share in the benefits of a stable and growing economy.”
