A local gold trader, Nana Appiah, has been discovered dead in Obuasi-Kokoteasua following a five-day search operation.
Relatives reported that Mr Appiah vanished on 5 August 2026, triggering an extensive search effort across the Kokoteasua neighbourhood led by family members and local residents.
His remains were ultimately located in nearby overgrown terrain earlier today.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause or circumstances of his death.
Officers from the Obuasi Divisional Police Command have transported the body to the mortuary for preservation and a formal post-mortem examination as enquiries continue.
The deceased was a prominent figure within the local gold trade, and his sudden disappearance had sparked widespread anxiety amongst nearby merchants and residents.
Given the heavy presence of miners and traders throughout Obuasi and its neighboring districts, the incident has highlighted ongoing safety concerns for local business owners.
