The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has summoned Members of Parliament back to the House for an urgent sitting.
The directive, issued on Wednesday, 12th August 2026, exercises powers conferred on the Speaker under Order 58(4) of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana.
According to an official statement signed by the Speaker, the House will convene from Monday, 24th August, at 12 noon, through to Friday, 28th August 2026, at Parliament House in Accra.
The recall requires lawmakers to cut short their recess to consider critical parliamentary business matters.
”I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, do hereby direct that Parliament shall, notwithstanding anything to the contrary, be recalled from recess to sit on Monday, at 12 noon of the 24th to Friday the 28th day of August, 2026,” the statement read.
