Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has officially handed over administrative control of the Ministry of Defence to the newly appointed substantive minister, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei.
The formal transition took place on Friday, 14 August 2026, at the ministry’s premises, where both ministers signed the mandatory handover documents to conclude the process.
Dr Forson was originally instructed by President John Dramani Mahama to take on the caretaker role following the tragic death of the former Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, in a helicopter crash on 6 August 2025.
The incoming Defence Minister transitions into the role from the Ministry of Works and Housing, following a broader government reshuffle announced by President Mahama on Friday, 7 August.
